What happens when it's cloudy though and there's no stars to see? For over a week now, we've been clouded over in a shit storm of snowy gloom. Yay for the ski hills getting all that fresh snow! Shitty for me as I've missed some beautiful nights of northern lights. I only know that I missed these fantastic skies because of the pictures I've seen posted on social media. Do I sound a little bitter? I feel a little bitter about the situation. The only blessing in disguise is that these cloudy days and nights are great for scouting locations. Day time scouting gives me an idea of things like power lines and other obstructions that I don't necessarily want in my frames. Night time scouting shows things like light pollution that may change the feel of the location I liked in the daylight hours. While I'm over these grey and gloomy days and waiting for the clouds to break I sure have found some interesting spots that I hope to photograph in the near future.
